Intensity of contractions shown through sad face icons is 100% the wrong message to send to mothers during labor. Birth is natural, beautiful process and women shouldn’t be rating their experiences with various sad faces. The app is simple, easy to use and attractive. Valuable to use during labor.
Recommended by our coach, this app is clean and worth the investment. Easy to use and no ads.
I'm a midwife, and I've been using this app to time contractions at homebirths for years, while I appreciate the option for the app to tell the user when to go to the hospital I don't like the update doesn't allow you to turn it off and the reminders come after each contraction. I'd like the option to not use that feature returned to the app.
Great and easy for what it does. Needs a delete all on the history screen. For intermittent tracking it's a nuisance to delete each entry one by one compare to how simple and easy to use the rest of the app is.
This app is worth a lot more than $1.99. I changed the setting on my phone to not lock, and used this app frequently during the last two days of my pregnancy and labor. Also the perfect thing to use while in labor, but not hooked up to monitoring. All the features are absolutely wonderful, and better than anything else I attempted to use on a free contraction timing app. Plus I could email the report to my midwife and myself. Sad to delete the app now that baby is here. I never delete apps I love, though clearly I don't need this one any longer.
This was a great app, but now the history graph/chart is gone. A visual display of data is important for stressed parents to be. Please bring it back.
Since the update the app won't open. After touching the app button on the screen the app starts to open then shuts down.
I just updated it and it still crashes even before opening...I'm using it on my iPhone 4gs using iOS 6.
I used this in 2010 on an iPod Touch worked perfect. Now in 2012 with my iPhone 4S , it's crashing and not recording properly.
Used it in early 2011 and it was great. Downloaded it again (due in December) and it crashes while timing and erases all previous contractions. What on earth is the point? If it isn't broken, PLEASE don't "fix" it!
I want to rely on this app but it crashes after recording the first contraction. Now I'm looking for a replacement app when I expected to relax between contractions. Just an FYI for anyone thinking any app will be flawless when you need it. Remember that a watch and paper/pen are still great back ups. Ugh!
Simple to use however it lacks "editing" as it claims. It lets you delete an entry but not for example change the length (eg if the contraction was 40 seconds and you forget to hit stop, and it records 3 min, your only option is to keep it or delete it which either way messes up your average)
This app asked us to post my wife's contractions on facebook. Not just once but after every contraction. Saying no took a few clicks. Completely unacceptable. we dropped it after 5 contractions
"honey! You're 3 minutes apart and lasting 45 seconds at a time!" it's how we knew it was time to go to the hospital (our daughter was born the same day... December 10th, 2010). Great app!
I used this the night before and night of labor. It worked as described and helped me figure out spacing and timing of contractions. Very nice app and will use again-- should I need it for #3.
It runs in the background, but actually ends up pausing the time until you return focus. Also resets the timer if you switch between the timer and history.
I didn't need a thorough record of every contraction. I did need it to run in the background so I could take calls from my mother-in-law. Unlike the free one, this one just couldn't do it.
On the night I went into labor I was not about to start writing down start/end times and doing a bunch of math. Solution - check apps on iPhone to see if there is something to track contractions. Wellah - Contraction Master. This was so convenient and easy to use. I just leaned over and hit start when a contraction started and hit stop when it stopped. It did all the math for me, which lead me to calling my doctor and delivering a child within hours. Definitely recommend and will use for child #2 for sure. Will probably check out Nursing Master too as I downloaded a different nursing tracking app and it is not very good. Thx
This app works very well. Now I have a 3 day old baby. Do you make a diaper changing app?
I was in labor for three days. This app was a lifesaver. Easy to use. Good to look at frequency and duration. Will use again if/when in labor again!!
Must have.
Same here. Crashed over and over again and would not record the data. Before the update everything was fine.
Used by my wife and myself to time her contractions. She was in labor for about 6 hours and the app really helped us determine when we needed to head to the hospital as we live about 40 minute away from it. Having an accurate way of keeping track of the contractions and how often they happened was indispensable and this app worked perfectly for that. Highly recommended.
I'm eagerly waiting for an update. The whole app is amazing. You can send the history by email... It's simple and soothe looking BUT you can easily erase your history unintentionally in the blink of an eye cos it doesn't ask to confim. Not to mention that the button is placed right where most Apps place their "back" button. Because of this the whole app becomes useless. Can't really rely on it. In a few weeks, when I'll really get to need it, if no update comes, I'll be buying something else. Sad, cos I dam like to press those bright pink colored buttons.
Needs a confirm delete history button hello.....deleted all the history in one swipe. Also needs to move the clear history button away from the top left where many other programs have their back button.
This app worked great for timing my contractions. I also love the ability to email the history to yourself to save for later. It's really neat having a complete record from the moment I went into labor to show my daughter when she gets older. I'll use this again for my next pregnancy. Worth the money.
Needs confirmation on clear history (are you sure?) and also needs a way to delete specific items from the list, in case of an accidental press. Otherwise foes as advertised.
My wife is in labor and I just purchased this app from the iTunes store for our iPod touch. Downloaded fine (running 2.1.2 OS), touch the icon, it brings up splash screen for about five seconds then disappears and takes you back to the main iPod menu. Very disappointing, don't have time to deal with software support when I'm trying to time contractions!!!!!
Just updated with the latest version and small issues with the earlier version seem to be gone. I highly recommend this application to anyone who is pregnant or has a pregnant wife or girlfriend. This is a great, handy tool that works great on the iphone!
Good for tracking contractions, but it's missing a way to track intensity or leave a note, and also to give you a summary of averaging x contractions in an hour and x duration. I had to buy another app to get all the features after I went to L&D and they asked for the above info.
The app shuts down when I try to access the history. The website advises to change your time zone settings to avoid this problem, but it has not remedied the bug. I'll have to keep using it on my laptop until they work that bug out. Hoping to see an update soon (ideally in the next three weeks)!
The interface of this app is nicely laid out. However, every time I go to view the History, the app crashes. So, it is basically useless to me. Another downside is that you cannot start timing a contraction, exit the app and come back to the app to end timing the contraction.
Used this for my first LO and worked like a charm online, I was able to easily display results for my doctors when I needed to. Can't wait to use the iPod Touch App for my second LO. This will be a lot easier than carrying my laptop around with me, while I am having contractions.
